SCOTT BLACK - Boston University

Director of Collegiate Soccer Academy

Scott Black Scott Black returns to the coaching staff for his fifth season, bringing a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the Terrier squad. During his tenure in Boston, Black spends most of his time as the recruiting coordinator, scouting and training the team, but also assists in all facets of the soccer program, including budgeting, academic advising, scheduling and fundraising.

All four recruting classes that he has brought to Nickerson Field were nationally ranked. During the 2009 campaign, the Terriers were one of seven teams to be ranked in the Soccer America Top-25 poll for the first seven weeks of the season and ranked as high as 13th nationally.

In 2008, the entire staff was honored as the America East's best after guiding the Terriers to a 12-6-3 record that included a first-round NCAA tournament win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Last year, BU earned a 3-0 win at UConn and a 1-0 home victory over then-No. 1 St. John's for the program's first win against a top-ranked team since 1994.

David Merson – PT, DPT, ATC Director of Sports Medicine

describe the imageDavid Merson, a certified athletic trainer (ATC) and licensed physical therapist (PT), earned both a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2006 from Boston University.  David is employed full time as a senior staff physical therapist at Boston Sports Medicine, a part-time as an athletic trainer at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a game day operations staff member for the New England Revolution.

During his time at Boston University, David became a published author in Athletic Therapy Today, an athletic training peer reviewed journal, for his original case study.  Throughout graduate school he served as a Resident Assistant, the Director of Operations for the Men's soccer team, and as an Administrative Assistant for the undergraduate Athletic Training Program. 

David's interest and experience with soccer stems from 15 years of involvement with the New England Revolution in varying capacities: equipment manager intern, volunteer, and game day operations staff member.  The experience with professional soccer lead him to choose his career in sports medicine.

The 2012 academy sessions will represent David's 3rd year as Director of Sports Medicine at the Collegiate Soccer Academy.


DAN COLWELL - Boston University

Dan Colwell Dan Colwell, a 2004 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, enters his sixth year as a member of the men's soccer staff.

Immediately following graduation, Colwell was appointed head coach of FC United club team, a member of the Massachusetts Premier League (MAPLE). He spent three years coaching FC United finishing his tenure with the club capturing the 2007 State Championship. He has now been named a coach for FC Greater Boston Bolts.

Prior to joining the BU men's soccer staff, Colwell spent the 2005 season at Division III Emmanuel College as an assistant coach for the men's squad, helping guide the Saints to their best finish in program history (7-7-1 overall, 5-3-1 GNAC).

CARL JUNOT – Harvard University

Carl Junot Carl Junot was hired as the Virginia B. and James O. Welch ’52 Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Soccer on July 8, 2010.

In his first season at the helm, Junot led Harvard to two victories over ranked opponents, including an exciting 2-1 victory over No. 13 Stanford in the first night game held at the Soldiers Field Soccer Stadium (Sept. 4).  Four Crimson players garnered nods to the All-Ivy League team, including three on the all-conference second team.

Junot, who most recently served as the head coach at Tufts, worked as an assistant coach with the Crimson program from 2008-2010, helping Harvard post a 26-10-1 overall record, win the Ivy League title in 2009 and reach the NCAA tournament both seasons… (read more)

GABE BERNSTEIN – University of Virginia

Gabe Bernstein is in his second season as the operations assistant for the UVa men's soccer team. Bernstein's responsibilities will include helping oversee the general welfare of the Virginia men's soccer student-athletes and assisting the coaching staff with all aspects of video editing and analysis.

Bernstein is a former academic coordinator on the University of Virginia academic affairs staff and worked with the UVa men's soccer program from 2008-2009.

He earned his master of education degree in athletic counseling from Springfield College in 2008 and his bachelor's degree in athletic administration from Penn State University in 2004.

TIM FAUTH – Providence College

Tim Fauth Tim Fauth begins his fourth season as an assistant coach at Providence College. A 2001 graduate of Monmouth University, Fauth came to Providence after a one year stint as an assistant coach at Northeastern University under former Friar Head Coach Brian Ainscough.

As a goalkeeper at Monmouth, Fauth played in 54 matches, including 44 starts. After graduating, Fauth played professionally at Limerick City in Ireland before returning to Monmouth, where he served as an assistantgoalkeeper coach for four years (2001-04). In addition to his collegiate experience, Fauth has coached in the New Jersey Olympic Development Program. ROY FINK – University of Massachusetts

Roy Fink Roy Fink enters his fourth season as assistant coach after joining the Minutemen in August 2008. His primary duties include all aspects of player development, recruiting, coordinating the Massachusetts Soccer Academy, and day-to-day operations.

This is Fink's second collegiate coaching position after serving as assistant coach for his alma mater from 2003-04. He has a wealth of coaching experience outside the collegiate realm most notably as the Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Trainer for the Colorado Rapids U-23 team, as the Director of Coaching and Club Trainer for the Strictly Soccer Futbol Club (Tampa), and as the Club Coach for the Tampa Knights (RSL Florida).

EWAN SEABROOK – University of New Hampshire

seabrook 4325Ewan Seabrook recently completed his third season as the top assistant coach with the Wildcat men’s soccer program and was elevated to Associate Head Coach this offseason. During his tenure with the ‘Cats he has helped lead the squad to three straight America East Tournament berths, while posting a 25-19-12 record.

Last season the ‘Cats finished with a 9-5-6 record, recording their second straight nine-win campaign, competing in the America East Tournament for the sixth time in the last eight years. New Hampshire advanced to the America East Championship game for the first time since 1994, becoming the first team to ever record three shutouts in the conference tournament.

In the season prior, UNH took home America East Coaching Staff of the Year honors, as Seabrook helped lead the Wildcats to a 9-7-2 record and a 6-0-1 mark in league play. Clinching the No. 1 seed in the America East Tournament, the ‘Cats earned their first regular-season title since 1994 and their first outright title ever. TED PRIESTLY – Holy Cross College

Ted Priestly Ted Priestly is in his fourth season as the head men’s soccer coach at the College of the Holy Cross in 2011. In his first season, Priestly’s team went 6-10 as junior forward Kyle Miller was named to the second team All-Patriot League. He also had four student-athletes earn Patriot League weekly honors and six were named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Priestly came to Holy Cross from UMass-Lowell, where he served as the head men’s soccer coach from 1997-2008. He posted an overall record of 131-76-28 during his 12 seasons with the River Hawks, with his team posting a winning record in each of the last 10 years. JEFF HUFFMAN – WILLIAMS COLLEGE

Jeff Huffman is currently an assistant men’s soccer coach with Williams College- handling a large majority of the logistical and administrative responsibilities- while serving as the Men’s Reserve Team Head Coach.  Huffman was an assistant also with Williams back in 2002 and 2003. From July 2004-July 2006, he served as the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach at Division 1 JUCO Garden City CC (KS) and from July 2006-October 2009 he served as Head Women’s Soccer Coach/Director of Soccer Operations for both programs.  In all, Coach Huffman has four season of head men’s collegiate coaching experience, sporting a .620 winning percentage. In addition, his women’s teams at Garden City CC made it to the Region 6 Tournament in four of his five seasons.

JEREMY BONOMO – University of Cincinnati
describe the imageJeremy Bonomo, a former head coach at Division II Assumption College for three seasons, joined the Cincinnati program in 2010.

Bonomo held a 21-21-11 mark in his three seasons at Assumption, including a 9-6-3 record in 2009 that included a final No. 10 ranking in the NSCAA East Regional Ranking. Prior to his stint at Assumption, he spent two seasons as an assistant at his alma mater, Southern New Hampshire. Bonomo has six years of club coaching experience, including three years as the head coach of FC Puma in Shrewsbury, Mass.

EJ O'Keeffe – High Point University

describe the imageEJ O’Keeffe joined the men’s soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach in January of 2011 after working as a volunteer assistant for the Panthers in 2010

O’Keeffe helped HPU achieve new heights in 2010 as the Panthers won a record 16 games and won their first Big South Regular Season Championship with a perfect 8-0-0 conference record. O’Keeffe helped to oversee a defensive unit which allowed just 19 goals in 21 games, the fewest goals allowed in a season in the HPU Division I era. O’Keeffe also served as a coach for the NC Soccer Fusion Academy and worked for the North Carolina Youth Soccer Association.

O’Keeffe played for three seasons as a defender for UNC Greensboro. He appeared in 61 games in his three seasons, compiling nine points on three goals and three assists. He was named to the All-Southern Conference team in 2008 and was a team captain in 2009. During his time at UNCG, the Spartans appeared in two Southern Conference championship games, winning in 2008 and advancing to the NCAA “Sweet 16”.

MARC HUBBARD – Southern New Hampshire University

MARC HUBBARD Marc Hubbard was named the seventh head coach in Southern New Hampshire University men's soccer history on January 9, 2008.

Over his first four seasons, Hubbard has re-established the Penmen as one of the nation's premier Division II programs. Hubbard has earned NCAA Tournament berths in each of those seasons while capturing two Northeast-10 regular season titles and an NE-10 Tournament title in 2008. He is a two-time Northeast-10 Coach of the Year.

The 2010 season saw the Penmen post a 12-3-5 record and advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament while ending the year ranked No. 16 nationally. Southern New Hampshire was in the NSCAA Top 25… (read more)

TREVOR SINGER – Temple University

SingerAG9E0197mgTrevor Singer returns for his third year with the Temple men's soccer program after being an assistant coach at the University of Maine for two seasons. With the Owls, Singer is conducts training for the goalkeepers and is responsioble for recruiting gifted student-athletes to improve the program.

At Maine, Singer mentored two America East All Academic team selections, fourteen America East Academic honor roll selections, a NEISL All-Star, an America East All-Rookie team player, and oversaw his 2008 squad garner the NSCAA Team Academic Award.

For the past three years, Singer has been a part of the Region I Olympic Development Staff and also earned his NSCAA Advanced National Diploma.

In addition to his duties to the Temple men's soccer team, Singer has been coaching for the FC Delco U14/U15 United States Soccer Federation Academy since 2009. Over the course of his tutelage there, he has coached and produced a 15-year old United States National Team starter... (read more)

NATE MILLETTE – Bryant University

Nate Millette enters his fourth year as the assistant men's soccer coach. Millette has helped guide the program to 10 wins over the first three years of Division I play.

A native of Scituate, RI, Nate graduated from Scituate High School in 2002. While there, he played four years of soccer, basketball and baseball. 

Millette was a four-time all-conference soccer player in the open-division. As a senior, he was a member of the Rhode Island All-State team and was second in the league in points, scoring 18 goals and dishing out six assists while splitting time between sweeper and center midfield. Millette played for the Northern Lightning, South Coast United and Mid-State Stompers Premier Clubs, collecting a total of six state cup titles.

BEN KNIGHT – Wheaton College
describe the imageBenjamin Knight begins his first season as goalkeeper coach for the Wheaton men’s soccer team in 2011.

Knight spent the 2010 season as the goalkeeper coach at The College of Holy Cross. In addition to his duties at Wheaton, Knight currently serves as the U11 boys head coach and goalkeeper coach for the New England Futbol Club (NEFC) as well as the goalkeeper coach at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School.

A 2010 graduate of McDaniel College in Westminster, Md., Knight holds a degree in exercise science and also minored in sports coaching and sports management. He has been employed as a goalkeeper staff coach at SoccerPlus Camps in Hartford, Conn. since 2007 and owns several certifications from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), including a Regional Goalkeeping Diploma and an Advanced National Diploma…(read more)

PAUL VASCONCELOS – Lesley University

describe the imageHead coach Paul Vasconcelos joined the Lesley community as its first ever men's soccer coach in the fall of 2006.  In just the program's third year, the Lynx qualified for the North Atlantic Conference Tournament and in 2008 and then in 2009, Vasconcelos brought his men's soccer team to the New England Collegiate Conference Championship. His 2009 team won a program-best 15 matches and earned a first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference bid.

In 2011 the Lynx won their first NECC Championship and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

ROB DOW – Southern New Hampshire University

ROB DOW Rob Dow is in his fourth season at Southern New Hampshire. After two seasons as an assistant coach with the men's soccer program, he was elevated to associate head coach during the 2010 season.

Prior to his arrival at SNHU, Dow spent two seasons as head men's soccer coach at Dean College in Franklin, Mass. While there, Dow compiled a 18-11-4 record, qualified for the NJCAA Region 21 playoffs in 2007 and coached seven NJCAA All-Region players.
